Carnegie with Dr. Mann - CHANGE IN PLANS
June 13, 2027
Dream of performing at Carnegie Hall?
Dr. Mann has been invited by MidAmerica Productions to conduct at Carnegie Hall and wants YOU (and your chorus) to join me on stage!
We were planning our trip for June of 2026, but due to circumstances beyond our control, that will no longer be possible.
We have been requested to accept an invitation for June 13, 2027. We have been offered two possibilities - the first is to perform in Carnegie Hall - the other is to be the core group for the new Ireland Residency. Dr. Mann is strongly considering both - but there is a substantial cost difference. The Ireland residency is more costly. More information will be available soon.
Refunds will be issued for the 2026 trip deposits.
Likewise, if you now can join us for 2027 - get in touch right away!
Message me (or email me at drmann@southlandsymphony.com) for more info - I would love to get you and your chorus invited!
It is also possible for non-performing folks (Spouses, significant others) to join us (cost includes performance tickets/hotel, etc....)
We have removed the deposit payment buttons for now - since the June 2026 event is cancelled.
We will now be be recruiting far and wide to fill the Carnegie stage.
Carnegie Hall Residency – GENERAL INFO
*Residency in NY - (5 days, 4 nights) - Concert June 13, 2027
Residency Dates June 10 - 14
Sylvia Lee Mann, conductor
*Alternate opportunity - Ireland Residency (substantial cost difference)
Repertoire: to be determined
How to participate:
Join the Southland Symphony Orchestra Chorus
- as a regular member – and come with us!
- or if you are not able to participate in all of them, just join our Carnegie Hall group)
Bring YOUR Chorus/Choir: If you are a member or a director of a choral group, encourage your director, members, or colleagues to join. I can make certain the ensemble is invited.
FYI - They can come as an independent group, or join forces with the SSO&C Carnegie group. This is a good option for smaller groups, like church choirs of 10 members or less. Their members can simply sign up to join our SSO Carnegie group. (SSO & C will need their commitment to join forces as soon as possible – no later than October 31 2025.)
Deadlines: We need to have our singers committed by the end of October 2025. (Some latecomers may be added until the late deadline of October 31 2025)
Basic schedule/sample itinerary:
-
Day One – Arrival in NYC and hotel check-in
-
Day Two – Chorus rehearsal with guest conductor (me) and piano in the morning or afternoon; directors’ (directors of the various participating choruses) during that first rehearsal. The rest of the day is free.
-
Day Three - Chorus rehearsal with guest conductor (me) and piano in the morning or afternoon. The rest of the day is free.
-
Day Four – Final dress rehearsal in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall, followed by the concert and a post-concert cruise around the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan, featuring music, dancing, dinner, and two complimentary drinks.
-
Day Five – Hotel check-out and departure.
COST – There is a cost to participate. There are some options, and it can be paid in four installments.
CONCERT ONLY OPTION ($1299) Note - This does NOT include any hotel lodging or in town transportation. Most people find that the Full Residency package is the best “deal” for them - because it includes 4 nights hotel and transport in town for getting to rehearsals, concert, post concert cruise, etc.) But - if you have family to stay with and access to transportation, this is a great option. EMAIL Dr Mann for complete info and sign up portal.
FULL RESIDENCY OPTION 2027 (Highly recommended) 5 days 4 nights The cost starts at $2099 per person (based on quad occupancy) *airfare is not included. They do have a travel partner that can arrange for group airfare. We need a group of at least 15 for group airfare. You MAY register for the full group option and still arrange your own airfare. (But we REALLY want to qualify for the group airfare!)
Occupancy options:
- Quadruple - $2099 per person - Two beds & four people
- Triple - $2,449 ($350 additional) per person - Two beds & three people
- Double - $2,799 ($700 additional) per person - Two beds & two people (or one bed & two people)
- Single - $3,949 ($950 additional) per person - One bed & one person
TRANSPORTATION TO NY – We can use their travel partner, or book our own, but our airfare group (from Southland Symphony Orchestra Chorus) has to all do the same thing. (We need 15 to choose group airfare to qualify) We did use their travel partner last time we went (as a participating chorus) – and they were very good. We were picked up from the airport, brought to the hotel, etc…If some wish to make different arrangements from the rest of the group, they may do so and still be part of the Full Residency group.
